think it would be a good idea for a play park to be built to give the kids somewhere to play, there is plenty of land around the estate to do this.

I do thnk it would be nice for the children to have a park but do you not think that having one could lead to a lot of teenagers using it as a place to hang around in the evenings. My old local park was nice by day but an absolute haven for teenagers with beer cans annoying all the locals by night. I know this is a quiet area at the moment but worry that it could actually end up with a number of drunk teens running around causing chaos (before anyone says anything i do know most teens do not behave this way but the minority that do can cause many problems)
There are swings nearby (thats all though) maybe that could be regenerated as it is very close. There is also a park opp the school.
Maybe someone on the commitee could ask locals if they have experienced problems and if not maybe think of havng one then??

I'm Inclinded to agree with Donna, We too lived with a park very near to the foot of our garden for about 8 years, I dont think one Friday or Saturday night passed in all those years without problems with noise ect (except when it was raining) I think it would be a problem, but again thats not to say that all teenagers are like that :)
but if there is somewhere new to go they will.

I notice that the parish council (meeting minutes) are actively persuing both expansion of the allotments (10 'standard' allotments), and 'taking over some of the open space land'. I've previously seen suggestions that this could involve the construction of both [another] football pitch/goalposts and also a basketball area.

I'm reasonably open-minded about whether any of this is good/bad, but has anyone seen any kind of plan/proposal? When purchasing our properties, it was with [supposed] knowledge of the 'country park' (pretty pictures), but I'm concerned that the area may be developed into a recreation/general use area for the rest of the village, changing the potential character for the worse.

Also note the comment in the minutes that the speed cushions 'don't have sufficient speed limiting effect on vehicles' .. I suspect those cushions will get higher when they're repaired!
